Lifestyle – eating habits, physical exercise, quality of sleep, mindfulness practices, social life, education – are all closely interlinked and highly dependent on quality. The human being is a whole person, so his physical body must receive all the necessary substances and rest in order to be able to achieve his goals, to work, to learn. More important is the inner world, the social life, the interaction with others, the practices of spirituality, which allow us to get to know ourselves better, to relax, to rest. All of these things are essential if we want to maintain our inner motivation to act, to feel happiness and fullness of life.
As a teacher, I interact with people of all ages on a daily basis, hear their stories, observe their lifestyles and choices, and, of course, notice a lot of patterns, so after 17 years of experience as a teacher, I can safely say that it is not a high IQ that influences good learning outcomes, but rather a person’s lifestyle. Yes, we can achieve a lot by forgetting everything around us and concentrating only on the rules that need to be learnt, but then we will exhaust our bodies so much that we will get headaches, insomnia, anxiety and so on.
What can you do to get great results and feel good physically and mentally? First of all, create a daily routine that includes time not only for work, lessons, and creating your external image, but also a daily routine that includes real time for yourself:
- Time for the healthiest possible breakfast, lunch and dinner. Eating should be relaxed, with the taste of the food, no TV, phones, etc. Supplementary vitamins and supplements according to season and need are essential.
- 4+4 hours working time, with a necessary lunch break for a meal, a walk or other pleasant rest, without any phone app browsing. Rest is time to breathe calmly and deeply, to observe our surroundings, to notice details, to enjoy the moment.
- Time to develop the skills you want to learn, which could include language learning, various courses. Spend 15-30 minutes a day at the same time and you will see a systematic improvement in your learning results.
- Physical exercise, no way. If we want our brains to work, our bodies must work first. The best physical activity is outdoors. You can walk, jog, do exercise, preferably at a lower intensity, but every day. Just as we eat and sleep every day, we need to move.
- Social contact is one of the most important things, even if you are a loner or an introvert, because regular “going out” has a very positive impact on our general well-being, our desire to achieve, to improve, to move forward. Even if you don’t feel like it sometimes, I still recommend going out to see a new exhibition, visit a fair or just walk around the city. It’s great if you go out to meet friends or loved ones for a lively chat in a café or just a walk in the park. The people you meet are sure to make you smile more often, and that’s how many great thoughts come to you, motivating you to move forward, to reach new goals towards your happiness.
- And one of the most important things is quiet time for yourself, during which you find time for prayer, meditation, listening to inspiring music, writing thoughts, reading a book, lying quietly and listening to yourself, seeking answers about your life goals and values. This daily time with yourself, in any form, morning or evening, for 15-30 minutes, is very empowering, because it is a time when you can get to know yourself better, to understand your own needs, and this builds inner strength and faith in yourself and the beauty of your life.
So open your diary and in addition to all the TO DO list, write down the activities you WANT to do, make extra time for eating, exercise, socialising, cultural activities, spirituality, even if it’s just for a few minutes a day, and you’ll feel your body getting stronger, you have more physical strength to act, your inner motivation is growing, you have many clear, beautiful desires and you are pursuing them, and most importantly, you have started to smile more often, because every day you are finding time not only for the desires of others, but also for your own desires, and this is the beautiful LOVE FOR YOURSELF, and the way to success!
